Stay Cool!

Too Short or Not Too Short? . . . That is the Question
Happy Fourth!

Amy, a mom with the "inside track," and her daughters.

On Father’s Day, our family made a trip out to Silver Dollar City.  It seems like every time we’re out there, we have a different goal . . . sometimes it’s the rides, sometimes it’s the shopping, sometimes it’s the shows, and all the time it’s the food!

This last visit was definitely all about the rides.

My children will ride everything on the park.  As I have mentioned before, I am a total wimp.  In fact, just watching them ride this made my stomach feel queasy.  I am not joking!

Yep.  That’s the ole’ Barn Swing.  It’s rides like this (and really all roller coasters!) that they love.  I am definitely a side-liner (remember this recent post?) when it comes to thrill rides.  But, I was definitely not a side-liner when it came to another type of ride that day . . . WATER RIDES.

I am a bit ashamed to admit that I had rarely (ok, never) ridden those rides – in all the times I’ve enjoyed Silver Dollar City!  I have no good excuses.  The truth is . . . I do not like being splashed with water.  There, I said it.  And perhaps more specifically, I don’t like getting my hair wet outside of the shower 🙂

But, I have to tell you . . . I am SO glad that I did.  You see, it was pretty steamy on that Sunday afternoon.  And, getting soaked on those rides felt SO good.  In fact, it was worth getting my hair wet because I actually felt cool.

So, why I am telling you this?  Because it reminds me of an insider tip I’ve been writing about since I’ve had control of this blog . . . BUILT IN AIR CONDITIONING!!

That’s right.

One of the best ways to beat the heat is to do the water rides FIRST.

Think about it.

If you ride the SuperSoaker Bumper Boats at The Track (yes, they are named that for a reason!), you will get wet . . . especially if your “side-liners” are also manning the coin-operated water canons.  Remember this?  Making the choice to do this FIRST give you built in air conditioning!

When you start zipping around the go-kart track in “slightly damp” attire, you will feel really cool!  And, you just might be dry by the time you load back up in the car at the end of your visit.  It’s a win-win!

The summer is only going to get hotter, people.  But, if you take advantage of that built in air conditioning, you can beat the heat!!
