To say the past few months have been exciting would be an understatement.
The Branson Ferris Wheel is here!
I have never experienced such enthusiasm, such anticipation, such JOY about something new coming to Branson . . . until the past few months. There has been social media buzz, national news stories, and lots of talk around town. Visitors and locals alike are so excited about the addition of the Branson Ferris Wheel to the Ozarks skyline.
I can’t blame them. The thing about this Ferris wheel is that it has a story. And we all love a good story, right?
The new Branson Ferris Wheel is the old Navy Pier Ferris Wheel from Chicago. This, in and of itself, is pretty awesome. First of all, who knew you could move a Ferris wheel?
Second of all, so many people across the nation have fond memories of this ride in Chicago – beautiful downtown views, marriage proposals, conquering fears of heights, laughing with family, and even freezing their tails off. How fun that these people will be able to come relive those memories in a new setting! The view won’t be Lake Michigan and the skyscrapers of the Chicago skyline, but it will be the beautiful Ozark Mountains. Check out these shots from both directions:
Now that’s a pretty view! So I know some of you are reading this thinking, “Yes, that is a pretty view, but there is no way I am getting on that thing. It is WAY too tall.” If this is you, I am with you. The thought of going up 150 feet into the air makes me feel a little queasy. But, by golly, I’m going to conquer that fear. This is too special of an experience to pass up! Stay tuned. Within the next month or two, I will have photo proof that I did it.
Ok, so a few more things for you to know about the Branson Ferris Wheel:
1) Each gondola seats up to 6 people. I call that family-friendly!
2) The above mentioned gondolas are not yet on the wheel. Some of you keenly observant ones have already noticed this from the pictures. So, the bad news is you can’t ride the Branson Ferris Wheel yet. The good news is that those gondolas are being installed this week, which makes it one step closer to opening!
3) The opening date is not set, but it will almost certainly be “mid to late June.” So, if you’re planning your Branson trip for before then, you’ll just have to plan to come back!
We can’t wait to see you!
