Baseball season . . . one of the hallmarks of summertime.
Though we don’t have a major league baseball team very close, we do have the Springfield Cardinals just about an hour north of Branson. This year The Track Family Fun Parks is the “Race the Bases” sponsor at every Sunday home game.
What does this mean?, you ask. Well, I’ll tell you . . . after the game, all the kids have the opportunity to go down onto the field and “race the bases.” When they reach home plate, they receive a card for a free ride at The Track! Not bad, huh?!
We went to a Springfield Cardinals game with some friends a few weeks ago and had a great time (though somehow left with no photographic evidence of the event – geesh!). It’s fun to come a little early (the park opens an hour before game time) to take advantage of the pre-game activities. If you are there early enough, you might even have a chance to get an autograph from some of the players who greet guests as the gates open.
What I love most (besides watching the game, of course!) is the fun atmosphere. Throughout the game, there are various games, activities, and contests happening in the stands, by the side of the field, and on the scoreboard. Kids of all ages (and adults!) will enjoy their time at the beautiful Hammons Field.
If you’re lucky enough to be at a Sunday game (and have kids who will cooperate and “race the bases”!), then you can head to Track and cash in those free ride cards! While you’re there, be sure to test (and improve) your own baseball skills at the batting cages at Track 5. New last year, these cages pitch four speeds of both baseball and softball and are really fun!
In case you’re wondering, I am speaking from experience. I have been in those batting cages. Remember this from last year?
