This weekend is Memorial Day Weekend . . . the official start of summer!

Lots of people will make their way to Branson this weekend to kick-off the summer in style.  There is so much to do here that you just might have to plan to come back to get it all in!

Here are a few ideas to make your Memorial Day Weekend memorable:

1) Take time to teach your kids about the reason we celebrate Memorial Day – remembering those men and women who have died serving our country.  It’s easy to forget that this weekend is not just about a day off of school, picnics, and outdoor fun. So, while you’re in Branson, head to the Welk Resort and take time to visit “The Wall”, an official, half-scale replica of Washington D.C.’s Vietnam War Memorial.  It’s free and a great opportunity to talk to you kids about the sacrifices that so many have made for our freedom.

2)  Spend some time at Branson Landing!  Last weekend, my husband and I celebrated our anniversary by staying down at the Landing.  Even though it is a place we frequent, we both commented that we saw it with fresh eyes during our time there.  We ate at great restaurants (Cantina Laredo and the White River Fish House), shopped, watched the fountain show, and strolled along the lake-front board walk (by the way, the board walk is a great place to cool off – the lake is so cool that it cools down the shoreline as well!).  I noticed a lot of kids enjoying their time at the fountain, having balloon animals made by one of the Landing’s clowns, and riding the little train that goes the length of the Landing.  It really is a great place to spend part of your weekend!

3)  Come to The Track!  A few weeks ago, we had some childhood friends from Texas visit Branson.  Their girls had never ridden go-karts before, so were naturally a little apprehensive (their dad didn’t have that problem, as you can see!)

But, you wouldn’t believe the smiles on their faces after they got off of the ride!  It reminded me just how magical go-karts are for kids (and, let’s be honest, adults too!).  Take time this Memorial Day weekend to watch your kids experience the thrill of riding go-karts . . . it makes them feel so grown up!

To make the most of your time at The Track, get your 2014 Go Card!

This is by far the best deal for your family.  Why?  Well, when you purchase the Go-Card online, it is loaded with 170 credits (if purchased at The Track, it has 160 credits) for the price of 130!  That’s a lot of FREE credits!  And, this card gives you half-price buying power for the rest of 2014.  So, when you come back to Branson again this year (there’s just so much to do!), you will still be able to buy half-price credits!  You also receive 1 FREE Pizza World Buffet at Track 4 ($9.00 value) and 1 FREE One-Topping Sundae from Andy’s Frozen Custard® at Track 4 ($4.00 value).  If you’ve never tried Pizza World or Andy’s Frozen Custard, you are in for a real treat!

Have a great Memorial Day Weekend in Branson!
